The Bostopian Army was established in 705, on the same day that Bostopia itself came together to form one nation. The Army was established as a means of protecting the fledgling nation from foreign invaders, and also Barbarians.

The Army was mainly used as protection for trade carriages travelling Bostopia, as Highwaymen holding up carriages was common throughout the middle ages.

In 1476, the Bostopian Army came into it's own when it fought the Laquari Army at the Battle of Jinningham. The Bostopian army decimated the Laquaris, who turned and fled back to Laquar City.

The Bostopian Army served well in most campaigns, though after complaints shortly after the unification of East & West Isle that the troops were too East Isle focused, Emperor Boston introduced National Service.

All school-going children recieve compulsory military training while in school, incase a militia of those 17 and over ever have to be called. National Service complies to everyone who has left school, and lasts for one year.

In effect, many view their education lasting until they turn 18 or 19, due to the extra year in the military.

This years service provides the Bostopian Army with those used to Military conditions, at any time they need to be called.

Bostopia's Army recently developed new technology, showing the positions of each and every soldier on a battlefield. This also measures the soldiers heart rate. While it makes grim viewing during times of warfare, it is an irreplaceable tool.
