Geography

Location

Braxis VI is positioned approximately 7,530 miles to the south of Braxis I, the largest super-city upon the surface of planet Frulegur. Braxis VI skims the tropical band that the southern regions are blessed with, transforming the otherwise icy world into a desert wasteland. The nation is inland, and contains no more than two large water masses; Saltwater Lake C14 and Freshwater Lake C15, where most of the population gathers due to the natural resources that are in abundance in this area.

Resources

The five most abundant, and most harvested natural resources in Braxis VI are:

Iron; used mainly for construction work.

Clay; used mainly for pottery exports to other parts of the planet.

Oil; The great oilfields of the Esher region are famed for their size and yield, used in material production and manufacturing vehicles.

Hydrogen; The massive gas-pockets beneath the land provide most of the planet's gas reserves, and are well sought after for use in space fuel and pneumatic machinery.

Iromass; An element unique to the close cluster of planets that orbit the sun XE410. Iromass has the properties of both a liquid and a solid, and thus is difficult to mine. When pressure is applied to it, it performs as a solid, needing heavy drilling equipment. However when items are left idle upon its surface they sink, and are almost impossible to pull out afterwards due to the pressure exerted. Though there are limited uses for this odd element, it is used in great quantities in chemical reactions used in weapons systems. (See Non-Newtonian Fluids)

The three most imported resources

Water; The vast icecaps upon the north and south poles of Frulegur provide much needed relief to the moisture-drained areas of desert wasteland.

Students; Though technically not a natural resource as such, Braxis VI claim that one of their greatest imports are students, who wish to visit its top-class university to learn more in the advanced science areas.

Coal; Banned for its polluting properties as fuel, coal is mainly imported to Braxis VI for use in the cosmetic industry.

Bordering nations

Braxis VI once bordered the now derelict nation of Braxis V to the west, which was once a neo-religious nation with an idealistic leader. Unfortunately his lack of funding in healthcare meant that all of the population were wiped out in a matter of days when a new influenza strain swept through the cities. Because of this, Braxis V's borders have been shrunk, and a quarantine border raised. On all other sides of the nation there is stretching desert wasteland, connecting this one nation with several others by an extensive high speed Mag-Rail network. Because of its surroundings, Braxis VI's borders are free to expand as long as new buildings are constructed.

Environmental issues

The leadership of Braxis VI has made a complete U-Turn to the philosophy and ideals of Braxis V's leader, and chooses to have little to no control over air and water pollution, instead arguing that the common man can buy air and water filters at a low price, thanks to the large retail companies that can sell many items at a smaller cost. This has lead to increased cases of asthma in young children and senior citizens.
