The Infantry Branch represents the so-called Queen of the Battlefield in Sober Thought's Community Defence Forces. It is divided into subbranches of light and heavy infantry, referring to the weaponry.

They are further divided into types which can and often do exist in both subbranches, each with their own ordinal sequence, e.g., 5th Armoured Infantry Battalion, 2nd Airborne Infantry Battalion, 2nd Mountain Infantry Battalion, 5th Light Infantry Battalion.

Light infantry

These soldiers intended to fight on foot in difficult areas or confined spaces, such as cities, mountains and behind enemy lines. A typical squad of twelve soldiers would have the following small arms: a light machinegun and pistol, an assault rifle, two carbines and eight submachineguns.

Light infantry battalions consist of 565 all ranks: 26 officers, 20 warrant officers and 519 others. These soldiers operate nine 60 mm mortars and nine 8 mm medium machine guns. There are three field or rifle companies, each of three platoons and totalling 115 all ranks. The combat support company (125) has reconnaissance (35), mortar (30), sniper (20) and anti-tank (30) platoons; the service support company medical (25), administration (25) and supply (30) platoons.

Heavy infantry

These soldiers are intended to fight at least in part from tracked armoured vehicles or wheeled armoured vehicles. They operate mainly in support of tanks and armoured cars.

Heavy infantry battalions consist of 625 all ranks: 28 officers, 22 warrants and 575 others. They operate nine 80 mm infantry anti-tank weapons, nine 60 mm mortars, nine 12 mm heavy machine guns and nine 8 mm medium machine guns.

Their composition is identical to that of the light infantry, except each rifle company has a ten-soldier weapons section of three medium machine guns and a thirty-soldier mainenance platoon for motor vehicles. A typical squad would be divided into a vehicle crew of three armed with two pistols and a submachinegun.
