The mid-late 1800's, as with the Great riot of Aden, saw great change in the political landscape for The Heartland and the world. The newly independent Aerigia, under the leadership of Cardinal Sinclair, sought to continue trade with the outside world as well as other Heartland nations, under a precarious peace.

The Imperial Era brought many immigrant workers into Prudentia. Most of them settled in Aerigian lands. As Sinclair took power, he condemned the use of slavery in Aerigia as The Great Houses disbanded and sought to make his nation an example the world will follow. Using the warships left over from the Imperial Era, Sinclair's warships fought with Amerigo's warships alongside other Catholic nations such as Syskeyia and Lavenrunz. In 1858, the war was considered a victory for the anti-slaver forces.

Nearing his last years, Sinclair gave out lands to the north of Aerigia for the settlement of the migrant workers. The migrants called the land Texarnica. Sinclair died in 1846, after he handed power to a protege that assisted him greatly in the Anti-Slaver war, Generalissmo Adam Jansen.
