History

During the first VSI-Hatarian war, Parthian and Hatarian troops occupied the Islander controlled Castle City, after bombing the vast majority of it into dust and ash, then enslaving the majority of the survivors, the Parthian and Hatarian troops had reduced the population of 950,000 from prewar times to only 310,000. After the war, Parthia made a distinct effort to rebuild the city, concentrating on creating a defensive system consisting of fortified missile and gun batteries and minefields along the outskirts of the city, creating a virtually impregnable coastal exclave, guarded by nearly 10 divisions of infantry and armor. Eventually, in the Kravania-Lone Alliance war, as a way to create a diversion, Spizanian and Willink forces attacked the city, shelling it heavily and prompting a full Parthian redeployment which apparently forced the attack to end with the conclusion of the war, leaving the heavily damaged city in pieces, and killing 50,000 citizens and 10,000 Parthian troops, while annihilating nearly 75% of the city. Defenses have since been improved and rebuilt, and new Parthian settlers have moved in to repopulate the port city. The size of the military garrison has also been increased, to prevent further attacks on the city by Spizanian or Willink forces.

Government

As a Parthian Colony, Castle City is considered a personal estate of Shah Khosru III, meaning all individuals and things on the territory belong only to him, with exception for Parthian settlers, their possessions, and land the Shah has sold to them. Officially, the entire native Islander population is property of the Shah. The Shah's rule is exercised through a board of governors, appointed by the Shah, which pass laws for the colony based off the necessities of the moment.

Demographics=

According to Very Small Island census records, about 950,000 individuals lived in Castle City before the Parthian invasion. However, after massive wars, the population of the city proper is only 225,000, with only 530,000 individuals living in the metropolitain area. Of the poplulation, 35% is Persian, 35% is Native Islander, 20% is Tajik, 5% is Kurdish, and 5% is of other ethnicity.

Economy

The economy of Castle City and the surrounding district is backward by Parthian standards, with per capita incomes less than 50% of the Parthian national average. Most of the economy centers around service for the naval base, while some manufacturing does take place, mostly, either textile manufacturing, or other labor intensive work, which is done by the multitude of Islander Slaves. Banking and other high end commercial industries are mostly abent from Castle City, due to the constant threat of attack.

Military Presence

The Parthian government considers Castle City to be a target, and as such, the government maintains both a hefty defense network around the city, and a significantly large troop deployment to protect it.

• 17th Task Group: 10 Faramarz Class Destroyers, 12 Simorgh Class Frigates, 8 Mehregan class Cruisers
