Cortellen

Cortellen is a democratic socialist state leaning more towards socialism. Events of its past have destroied all current support of a military or even defence funding but at the same time the police force is one of the best funded things in the country. Free enterprise is illegal and all products not needed where they are made are redistrubited to places that need them the most then to places that need them the least and if there is still left overs they are stored by the government.

History

Early History

Cortellen was settled in times unrecorded by Eurasian people. Records show that for most of its history Cortellen was a war like land with tribes lead by the strongest man in the tribe. These tribes were almost continusly at war with every other tribe and as a result the population stayed small. The tribes never achieved any greatness because there was constant toppling of the chieftan of the tribe in favor of someone better.

The Empire of Cortel

Finaly one man, by the name of Cortel, succed in taking a large part of one of the tribes and he started what he called the Empire of Cortel. Cortel made peace between his nation and the tribes then proceeded to destory the tribes by declaring war and smashing the weakest tribe at the time. By doing this he was able to consoladate power and had control of all the tribes within 10 years. His empire was very small and did not even cover the entire tribal lands due to the small population left over from the war he waged. After ruling his empire for another 10 years he died and his son took the throne. His son spent his whole time as King letting his population grow and prosper peacefully retaking the tribal lands. Records of the next several kings have been lost but it is assumed that they eather did nothing worth mentioning or their crowning acheivements where lost by a later king as records from after this period show almost no change. A king much like the former cheiftans gained the throne about 300 years ago, his name was King Cortel XI. He put 30% of the populaiton of Cortel into the military and was about to declare war on every nation near him but thankfuly before he could do that the people of Cortel fed up with the large military and the ever rising crime rate rebelled. After a short bloody war the people of Cortel won and renamed their contry The United Socialist States of Cortellen.

The United Socialist States of Cortellen

The United Socialist States of Cortellen has prospered in a governmentless nation since the fall of the last king. Recently a government has been formed for the betterment of the people and to start contact with the outside world.

Political System

Cortellen is lead by a Head of State who recieves advice from his ministries, and a Council of the People made up of one person from every city village town and settlement who make all desicitions based on the word of the people.

Ministry of Food

Watches farming output and oversees the redistrubtion of all food in the nation. All farmer's unions report to this ministry for any and all issues they have. To get farmland you must go through this ministry.

Watches over all factories in the nation, also oversees the redistrubtion of all intustrial products. All industrial worker's unions must report to this ministry. If you wish to start a factory you must go through lots of paperwork and questioning from this ministry.

Ministry of Consumer Goods

Watches over all production of consumer goods and distrubts all consumer goods. This minitry is small and does not do much as consumer goods are a very low priority in this nation.

Ministry of Communications

Controls all communication in the nation. Lays and repairs all lines. Also oversees production and distrubtion of computers. Currently finishing laying lines to insure all Cortellens have a phone.

Ministry of Tranportation

Creates and repairs all roads, railroads, elevated traintracks, subways, and airports in the nation. All cars are registered and distrubted through this ministry. They also run all public transit. Currently trains and buses go to every town, city, village, and settlement in Cortellen. Finishing up distrubiting cars to every citizen of Cortellen. There are airports in every city.
