Council of State(Wazistan)

The Council of State is the President of Wazistan's Chief Advisory panel. The Council was establish by the Constitution to help the President in making difficult decisions. The Council is part of the Presidential Administration.

Membership and Officers

The Constitution does not set a cap on how many members can serve on the Council, so the number varies between Presidents. For example, Fmr. President Ishmel Brahim had only 20 members while fmr. President al-Bara had 161 members.

President Jalil, the current President, has about 61 members at the moment.

Day-to-Day operations of the Council is led by the Executive Secretary, who is elected by the Council as a whole.

Responsibilities

Among the Council work of advising the President on important issues, the Council has the responsibility of serving as the de facto Cabinet when a Government has not been appointed. This happen in early 2005 when Prime Minister Allawi's Islaimc Liberal Party couldn't win an absolute majority in Parliament and the Council had to take over Exectuive control of the country while Allawi work to form a Coalition with other Parliamentary factions.
