Crime
From NSwiki, the NationStates encyclopedia.
Crime is a derived attribute the game calculates for each nation.
The game always assigns one of the following ratings (listed here from lightest to heaviest crime):
- Totally Unknown
- Well Under Control
- Relatively Low
- Moderate
- A Problem
- A Serious Problem
- A Major Problem
- Pervasive
- Crippling
The game may also modify this rating with other statements, such as:
- "especially youth related"
- "thanks to the all-pervasive police force"
- "probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons"
The exact game mechanics behind crime have not been well-discussed in the NationStates forums. It appears that increasing police and education funding as well as welfare decreases crime, while certain economic freedoms increase it.
