Dain-da-Hol, born Plows Deep the Soil, was an important figure in the History of Snefaldia.
Dain-da-Hol in 1518

Born in a small Dayan village on the northern bank of the Saard river in 1480, he was the son of a farmer and devout pracitioner of Endiri, as well as a follower of Aatem Nal, as were most of his Dayan neighbours. Upon coming of age he was given his official name, "Plows Deep the Soil" according to the traditional Dayan practice of naming after profession.

In 1503 his father was punished by the local Aatem Nal Archivist for, ostensibly, failing to observe a ritual properly, but in reality he was punished largely because he was Dayan and respected in the community. At this period, most of Aatem Nal was made up of Sringi and there was a policy of persecution in place against the Dayan of the north bank. His father died soon after, and the villagers blamed the Archivist.

In 1510 the Plows Deep's family once more became embroiled when the Archivist, whose name is forgotten, tried to make another example and threatened to have Plows Deep executed. Outraged, Plows Deep consulted his Endiri ancestors and went to study at the Archive. While he was studying, Cenobites came and threw him out on the orders of the Arhcivist. Legend has it that when Plows Deep demanded to know why, the Cenobites shook their heads and cried, saying "we know that this is wrong, but the Archivist commands it and we cannot disobey! We owe our lives to Aatem Nal."

Immediatly, Plows Deep gathered a band of men around him and marched on the Arhive, killing the Archivist, looting the building, and burning it to the ground. Word of his refusal to submit to the persecution spread, and soon Plows Deep found himself the head of a band of Dayan warriors seeking vengeance for past wrongs.

Taking the name "Dain-da-Hol," meaning "Restores Justice," he commenced a war of liberation on behalf of the Dayan peoples and opposed the Aatem Nal leadership with force, demanding that they end the unjust persecution of Dayan.

Dain-da-Hol's movement

It is important to remember that the Dayan Rebellion was not a rebellion against Aatem Nal as an institution- merely against the leadership of Aatem Nal itself. Dain-da-Hol considered himself an observer of Aatem Nal throughout his entire life, simply seeing the practices of the Council as going agains the teachings of the Amershaman Medrahov.
