From the time the Treaty of Airgtheach was signed and ratified on July 7, 2005 until August 17 when it was amended to allow Dan the Merciless to re-enter the regions of the United Emperies and the Holy Lands of Random Militants, relations between Tannenmille and Dan the Merciless were somewhat strained. On August 26, war erupted.

Prelude to War

Dan's Banishment and the Treaty of Airgtheach

Early in the summer, relations between the UN Delegate of the United Emperies and the Borderlands of Glatialov were sparking. Words flew, and eventually the founder of the Emperies, Tannenmille, ejected Glatialov from the region. Glatialov drifted for a while before finally settling in the Holy Lands of Random Militants, where a nation known as Pope Smoking Jews was stirring up trouble. Eventually he was ejected from the region.

Some weeks later, Pope Smoking Jews returned and attempted to rouse an army in the Rejected Realms. About this time, Dan the Merciless left the region. Glatialov labeled him a traitor and a coward, and gained UN delegacy in the region. Using his new power in the region, Glatialov ratified the Treaty of Airgtheach, a treaty that would secure him a permanent spot of power in the region and not allow Dan to re-enter the Holy Lands. The Treaty was drafted by Tannenmille and ratified by both regions almost immediately.

Dan and the Confederacy of War Lords

After his ejection, Dan created a new region, the Confederacy of War Lords. Tannenmille, now operating in the Holy Lands as Lower Sussex, moved a puppet nation known as "the HoteI California" into the region to act as a spy. Along with Random Militants, Tannenmille discovered a plot known only as "Operation: Chariot", a top-secret plan developed by Dan the Merciless to destroy the Holy Lands. Lower Sussex, now gaining some respect in the Holy Lands, called for an invasion alongside Random Militants and Geeks with Guns. The invasion failed and the three nations returned to the Holy Lands. Soon after, however, the Confederacy collapsed and Dan returned to the Holy Lands.

Dan's Return

Dan returned in early August, and Lower Sussex, now UN delegate, and Random Militants, the founder, accepted him back in on the condition that he recruit ten people in a week. When Dan succeeded in this, he was welcomed back into the region. Shortly after, on the Holy Lands of Random Militants regional forums, Dan and Tannenmille (Lower Sussex) debated on whose army was more powerful. Dan showed no fear of the Tannenmillian Army, and Tannenmille felt likewise regarding Dan's forces. Tannenmille asked Dan if he wanted to roleplay a war, which was accepted. War was declared by both parties.

Agent Riven

Agent Riven is a biochemical weapon developed by Tannenmille first deployed in the Dan-Tannenmille War. Its specifications are below.

Technical Readout on the Effects of Riven: Pros and Cons

A 20 cg dose has been seen to kill humans (tested on death-sentenced criminals) 90% of the time.

5 seconds after exposure: Subject began to seizure mildly.

10 seconds: Subject begins frothing at mouth, leg muscle failure. Legs will kick at random due to electric pulses.

12 seconds: Subject begins shouting incomprehinsibly.

14 seconds: Subject breaks out in a cold sweat, seizures end. Shouting quiets to low mumble.

16 seconds: Subject falls into coma.

20 seconds: Subject dies, lungs rupture and bowels fail.

In the remaining 10% of cases, subjects that have previously been exposed directly to radiation; through chemotherapy, a nuclear blast, or otherwise, are somehow protected against the chemical makeup of the agent for up to two weeks before the agent takes effect. Research is being devoted to overcoming this weakness.

Pros:

Fast acting incapacitative and lethal biochem weapon. Is a heavy neurotoxin and causes loss of the acetylcholinesterase function similar to O-ethyl S-(2-diisopropylaminoethyl) methylphosphonothioate. Hangs low to the ground due to its heaviness, and lingers for approximately 1 week before dissipating safely into the ground or air.

Cons:

Effects not seen immediately in subjects exposed to radiation. Can be counteracted by taking countermeasures similar to those taken for exposure to O-ethyl S-(2-diisopropylaminoethyl) methylphosphonothioate, 1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-3-yl α-hydroxy-α-phenylbenzeneacetate, or similar incapacitative or lethal agents. Lingering effect renders land unusable for approximately a week. Currently, development of Agent Riven is expensive and not yet refined. Field tests will determine whether or not production of Riven is worth the high costs and risks of its development.
