| − | Before the HMS Dreadnought capped an arms race between the US, GB, Russia, Germany, Italy, France, and Japan in the period before WWI, battleships had traditionally mounted four main [[Naval Batteries]], firing single calibers of weapon, be it 8" or 12". After that arms race, all [[Battleship]]s were technically Dreadnoughts, as they mounted numerous mixed caliber cannon, now including the massive [[15 Inch Naval Gun]] and [[16 Inch Naval Gun]], and they mounted larger amounts of those cannon (The HMS Dreadnought mounted ten naval guns).
