At the age of 15 Empress Diane (Great-granddaugther of Empress Julia I) ascended the Golden Diamond Throne when her grand uncle Giusecchio III was assasinated by his own guards. Just a few months into her reign the young and somewhat naive Empress has announced complete religious freedom that hasn't seen such a drastic change in Imperial Policy since the reign of Empress Yolanda II. The new Empress reign has been marked so far by the promise of more reforms in a government that has fallen into corruption since Giusecchio III six year reign of maddness. Empress Diane has also sought to forge connections with forigen powers and has so far been more respectful of forigners than Giusecchio III.

The Empress fulfilled another promise of her reforms by declaring that offices in the Senate would no longer be heriditary but based on Parlamentary elections, but her new elected senate (most of which is filled with members of the Loyalty Party, called "Imperial Toadies" by their detractors) voted to return most of their new powers to the Imperial Family and declared it's intent to become an "Advisory Board for Her Imperial Majesty".

The Empress Diane has in recent months hosted an Imperial Banquet for foreign dignitaries and has celebrated her 16th birthday.
