The Felinard are an intelligent species of catpeople inhabiting the region of Felistar, where they form the majority of population in Yetar and Catalay.

Physical Apperance

The Felinard are humanoid felines, so in other words their bodies are essentically human-shaped, with two feet, two hands, and generally an upright posture. On average the felinards are slightly shorter than humans, approximately 150 cm in lenght. In smaller details the Felinard prove themselves to be distinctively different from humans however. The most notable difference is probably the soft, think fur that covers a Felinard's entire body except for the palms of their hands and soles of their feet. Generally the fur is of the same lenght all over the body. The thickness of the fur coat varies from approxiately 1 cm to 5 cm depending on the individual. Sometimes male Felinards have a lion-like mane on their head around their face, but in general that is an uncommon trait.

Other physical features different from human ones include the Felinard's heads, shaped like those of common housecats, slightly wedgelike with a short muzzle, and two triangular ears on the top of the head. The forehead and nose of a Felinard are slightly higher in comparison than those of a common housecat. Moving downwards along the body, the next different feature is the lack of breasts on females. Unlike their human counterparts, felinard females have flat breasts but four nipples instead of two, the second pair situated under the first. Lower still is the body-part that humans lack, the tail. It is approximately 1 meter in lenght, sometimes slightly furrier than the rest of the Felinard's body, and very agile.

Finally, the Felinard's legs are somewhat different from those of the humans, as they walk only on the toes and ball of the foot. As a result, a Felinard's heel protrudes backwards in the air. It is often mistaken as the knee, but in biologically speaking a Felinard's knee is situated just below their hips. However, the heel does perform roughly the same function on a Felinard that the knee does on a human.

Physical and Mental Attributes

In general Felinards are physically weaker and less resilient than humans, but more dexterous. Although comparisons of intelligense between the Felinards and humans is somewhat difficult, the felinards are generally considered to be somewhat more intelligent of the two. The Felinards are also somewhat more curious than humans, not even aversing life-threathening situations if the result is knowing or discovering something new. Naturally, any generalisations about the species is bound to go wrong in some fashion, as there are notable differences between different nationalities and individuals.

A felinard's average lifespan is approximately 60 years, although naturally some individuals live longer and some die younger. However, it is very rare for a felinard to live more than 75 years. On the other side of life, a felinard usually reaches puberty at the age of 7, and matures around 10 years of age.

Culture

As noted before, generalisations about the felinard species are bound to be ill-fitting as all felinards are individuals (how would you describe the entire human species to someone who didn't know them?), but yet it is tempting for non-felinards to make such generalisations.

In general, felinards tend to be more solitary creatures than humans, spending time alone and doing their job alone if possible. In most societies felinards do not wear clothes, as their bodies are already completely covered in fur, but when interacting with humans they usually opt for a small loincloth.
