The Freethinker Commonwealth's unicameral legislature fairly unique composition (and, to a lesser extent its large size) has lead to a large variety of political parties representing a vast range of interests and concerns. Because of the partial representative system, to earn a representative in the assembly only requires a quarter of one percent of the electoral vote, many special interest groups will field their own candidates to provide a representative within the legislature. There no less than eight hundred seats to be won, of which half are constituency posts (conducted by the first-past-the-post system) and half are representative posts taken from party lists.
