Garnilorn

The Holy Empire of Garnilorn is made up of nine small jungle islands in the South Baltic Ocean.. These are in the Island Chain Called Garnilorn.. Each of the islands is a single major family line from the six hundred settlers that first came to these islands in 1229 BC from regions of Europe. As there were nine main blood lines each was granted titles to one of the nine islands..

As the population grew the number of family grew to twenty-nine. This is the base for the General Council, (GC) membership which governs the Empire.. As one Elder is elected from the nine Island Elders, (IE) and twenty Family Elders, (FE) . The IE must be sixty years old or older to be seated in one of the nine IE seats and come from one of the original nine blood lines to settle the islands. The twenty FE must be fifty-five or older to be seated and come from on of the related twenty family blood lines.. All must have served in some public service area for at least sixteen years to run for the posting to the GC. They must get 61% of the vote and stay in office as long as they hold such endorsement and are not found in violation of National Laws that would result in them being expelled from office and placed in prison, or their death or another person elected. Once all twenty nine are selected they all vote among all Elders on selected IE until one has sixteen votes of the twenty-nine and is thus declared the Chief Elder of the GC.. He simply leads the proceedings of the GC and maintains order in their meetings.
