Timeline of the Civil War

March 14th

At 7 a.m, the Doet River Dam located just North-east of the city of Asylum, causing the majority of the city's 13,508,950 people to cross the border into Insaneindahead.

March 15th

17 anti-military protestors are killed by Civil Army personnel in the Hexagon with a 4-year-old girl, Kendra Jones, accidently being caught in the cross fire. The CA claims the fired in self-defense, while the protestor claim otherwise.

March 16/17th

13 anti-government protestors in Wachovia were shot and killed by the Civil Army. The outrage over such a vile act caused the GWRM (Green wombat Resistance Movement)to attack a military installation in Qwijirama on March 17th, seizing over 5,000 rifles, 200 rocket launchers, 11 GW5 tanks and approximately 5 tons of C-4 and other explosives.

March 18th

The Leader of Green Wombat, Lt. General Abraham Simpson, declares the GWRM to be insurrectionists and asked close alies Insaneindahead and Certifiably insane for help. Insaneindahead promised troops, while Certifiably insane promised to help, only if the 'internal affairs' spilled over into their territory. The Hexagon refuses military help from Qazox, but will allow the QRC (Qazoxian Red Cross) to assist with civilian casualties.

March 19th

• The GWAF (Green wombat Air Forces) launch military strike on known GWRM bases on the outskirts of Sumthinelse and Ruffien.

• GWRM takes responsibility for the March 14th destruction of the Doet River Dam, and warns that if their demands are not met, the Hoji dam in Sumthinelse will be destroyed as well.

• Insaneindahead, an ally of Green wombat's sends 125,000 troops into the Asylum region, for search and rescue missions and to patrol area for GRWM personnel.

• The Civil Army finds an abandoned GWRM hideout in Vromskien with plans indicating that top military personnel, including Lt. General Simpson and his wife Reece are to be assassinated.

• The Hexagon Rebelan underground newpaper publishes a report stating that a source within the Hexagon claims that Lt. General Simpson signed a order allowing all Civil Army members to detain suspected GWRM members indefiniely at Gitmo Army Base in Nueva Kiwi, until the suspect's innocence is proven.

March 20th

• Lake Brell City is occupied by Government forces as rumours of GWRM activity within the city involving its Mayor, Jeanne Harte. Ms. Harte is taken to Gitmo Army Base, the first public figure so far taken to the detention center.

• GWRM personnel hold the Mayor of Cuidad de Rojo Toro, Juan Baton, hostage for over 13 hours, until Civil Army engineers blast the City Hall, causing the death of 25 GWRM, the Mayor was found dead, presumably shot in the head by rebel forces.

• Doet Mayor Yon-Wei Hsan declares city to be under siege by GWRM forces, surrenders city to the rebels and is allowed to escape unharmed.

• GWAF launches strike into Doet, destroying the Historical Ki-Ran Temple, Capt. Brian Griffin, head of the GWAF, states that the temple was being used by GWRM forces as a fortress, and needed to be destroyed.

• The Hexagon Rebel posts on its website that according to a poll taken on March 17th, 76% of the people want Lt. General Simpson to step down and 84% want elections. The Green Wombat Daily News claims that The Hexagon Rebel poll was misleading and prints the results of a poll it took on March 16th stating that 13% want elections and 76% say that the government is fine as it is.

• At 11:45 pm Lt. General Abraham Simpson, his wife Reece, and his 9-year-old daughter Elisa are found dead in their home in Hellispont. It is believed that the GRWM killed them while they were asleep, but none of the house guards claim to have noticed anyone leaving the area. The bodies are found during an hourly security sweep. The GRWM claim not to have assassinated the family. Colonel Robert H. Carlos is declared the new leader of Green Wombat

March 21st

• New leader Colobel Carlos declares martial law in Green Wombat, with the proviso that any and all GWRM personnel are to be caputered as Prisoners Of War.

• At 1:30 pm, during a World Cup 27 Qualifing match vs. Emporer Pudu, a bomb threat is called into Estadio Hexagona ending the match with 6 minutes left. Green wombat is declared the winner of the match. March 22nd's match vs. Lovisa is moved to Lovisa due to security concerns. It is later found out to be hoax perpetrated by an 11-year-old in Wachovia.

• In Hellispont, 3,000 person suspected of aiding the GWRM are taken to custody and sent to Gitmo Army Base.

• The nation's biggest newspaper The Green Wombat Daily News is closed until further notice. The government cliams that it is closing the news center because of specific threats to the building and its employees unless they 'accurately' report the news.

March 22nd

• Colonel Carlos is found dead, appently assassinated, meaning that within the last 30 hours, 2 of Green Wombat's leaders have been killed. Vice Admiral Eric Sanchez, stationed on GWNS Boa is assumed to be new leader. In his first act, VAdm. Sanchez calls for additional help form Insaneindahead and Certifiably insane. Insaneindahead sends an additional 35,00 troops and Certifiably insane sends 20,000 troops.

• A top QRC offical tells the Pika City Constitution that according to reports she received from other QRC officals, that so far the death toll in the conflict is 25,000 dead or wounded in the GWRM and over 60,000 dead or wounded Civil Army personnel. The Hexagon denies the reports and threatens to send the QRC out of the country.

March 23rd

• The GWRM claims to have control over the following cities and declares them the Independent Republic of Green Wombat: Zito, Garrett, Anti de Ox, and Qwijirama. The Offical Government of Green Wombat denys these claims and asks that no nations within the Continuum recognize the IRGW.

March 24th

• Certifiably Insane withdraws its troops, claiming that due to the spreading of the war to near its own border, it cannot allow its troops to stay in Green Wombat. Later in the day, Certifiably Insane withdraws itself from the CIG accords and refuses to help either Green Wombat or Insaneindahead.

March 25th

• A top military offical in the Hexagon, cliams that one of the GWRM's leaders is from Qazox, basing the claim on captured GRWM prisoners. The GRWM deny the claim, and accuse the Army of torturing GRWM POW's.

• Isla de Muerte falls to GWRM forces, making this the 5th city within the last couple of days the rebels have taken over. The GWRM now controls 30% of the mainland and is moving troops towards the Doet River and the cities that lie on the river.

• The Hoji dam just north of Sumthinelse is destroyed by either a GWRM bomb and/or a off-course missle attacking GWRM tanks by the GWAF. It is not known which caused the dam to break, with each side blaming the other.

• The destruction of the Hoji Dam causes 145,000 people in Sumthinelse to vacate the city. an Estimated 22,000 people are dead or injured and another 30,000 missing.

March 26th

• Rioting in The Hexagon cause the military installations in and around the city to be evacuated to an unknown location.

• GWRM forces claim to have video showing that the Civil Army planted explosive devices on the Hoji Dam, which explains how the dam was blown up, considering remians of the missle were found 5 miles away from the dam. The GWAF denies any responsibility in the destruction of the dam.

• The Q Continuum Council declares Green Wombat a 'War-torn' country and votes 6-2, with Certifiably insane abstaining to vote, that QCC (Q Continuum Council) forces be allowed in Green Wombat to help keep the peace.

March 27th

• QCC forces land in Wachovia, Doet, The Hexagon and Hellispont to establish a beach-head and to provide security in those cities. Vice Admiral Eric Sanchez declares the QCC troops to be violators of the Q Accords (which bans foreign intervention into a country during a civil war). The QCC declares that Green wombat already broke the accords when they recieved help from Insaneindahead and Certfiably insane.

• A car-bomb explodes in Kraken, killing 57 people and 3 members of the QRC. Qazox requests to the QCC that they send troops to help protect their Red Cross. The QCC denys the request claiming that Qazoxian troops could make matters worse.

• A video tape is released on Green Wombat NewsSite at http://www.GWNS.gw (note not a RL site) that shows the interrogation of a man. On the tape, the man, who's name was edited out, claims to be from Qazox and is one of the high ranking GWRM members. The man, who appeared to have been beaten and starved, was shot execution style after making his 'confession'. An outraged Vice Admiral Eric Sanchez, orders all civilian Qazoxian personnel out of the country, including the QRC.

March 28th

• The Hexagon Rebel prints a GWRm press report claiming that the interrogation of Michael Kelly, the man who was shown on tape the previous day, was faked and that Michael Kelly was not part of the GWRM in any way, but was in fact a reporter from Joehio in Qazox. The GWRM further claim that Mr. Kelly had taken pictures of the Civil Army planting the explosives at the Hoji Dam.

• The death toll from the Hoji Dam explosion rises to 27,120 dead, 12,890 injured and over 7,000 persons still missing.

March 29th

• The battle lines were stalemated just outside of Kraken as neither side could move the other.

• a car-bomb exploded in Wachovia killing 4, and injuring 15.

March 30th

• In a daring midnight raid, the GWRM took control of the Hexagon, effectively taking control of Wombat Island.

March 31st

• The GWRM tries to declare soverneginty over Green Wombat, but a guerilla attack by thr Civil Army re-takes the Hexagon.

April 1st

• A delegation from each side met in Wickedable for peace talks, but not much came to pass.

April 2nd

• the GWRM announces that they have possession of 5 nuclear weapons and gives date of April 3rd to have all Civil army and other Military personnel and leaders surrender.

April 3rd

• A dirty bomb containing 5 kg of Cesium goes off in the town of Asylum, killing over 50,000 people instantly and over 125,000 people affected by the radiation. The military claims a GWRM truck was in the area just before the expolsion.

• The fallout of the nuclear attack spreads debris northwestly into the cities of Doet, Wachovia and Sumthinelse. The blast is confirmed as to be seen in cites as far away as Wachovia.

• Vice Admiral Eric Sanchez formally signs surrender papers on the GWNS Boa, effectively ending the civil war. Admiral Sanchez is later found in his cabin, dead with a suicide note claiming that due to his dishonor he had to kill himself.

• GWRM leader Josiah Gutzwiller and his right hand man Norberto Gallaspy and found dead in a bunker outside of Lake Brell City. A woman, Sharee Gronvall, claiming to be Gutzwiller's successor claims that the person who signed the 'surrender' papers, was not a member of the GWRM. She further claims the GWRM never had nuclear weapons and were not the ones who set off the device earlier in the day.

April 4th

• Fallout from the dirty bomb spreads to cover approximately a 15,000 square mile area, with acid rain being reported in most parts of Green Wombat and Insaneindahead.

• A person claiming to have video of the attack in Asylum, posts it to http://www.gwns.gw (not a RL site). The video show what appears to be military troops setting off an expolsive device within the city.

• The Civil army claims no trops were in Asylum, and that the bomb was set off by the GWRM.

April 5th

• More video evidence from the Asylum dirty bomb attack shows military troops setting offf the device. The Civil army repeatedly denies the reports and denouces the video as a 'hoax'.

• Independent sources from outside of Green Wombat claim that the videos are authentic.

April 6th

• The Q Continuum Council declares that the Civil army of Green Wombat is the perpetrators of the dirty bomb attack of April 3rd. The QCC then recognizes the GRWM's claim of being the rightful controlers of the country and QCC forces begin to capture and imprision all members of the Civil Army.

• New Civil army leader Sa-da Mussian calls for all troops to resist the QCC and wage attacks on the civilian population in a internet posting on Sal-Queso network, a military owned website.

April 7th

• Civil Army and QCC Forces spend 17 hours fighting in the Hexagon, with the QCC taking over the capital. Estimated losses on both sides are over 15,000.

• Clean up of Asylum begins as members of Qazox's and Poolshrimpers' nuclear clean-up crews arrive to cheers and celebration in Kylesburg a small suburb of Asylum.

April 8th

• The Civil War declared over as all remaining Civil Army forces surrender, ending the 26 day war.

• Daphne Culins is voted interm president until elections are able to be held in 1908.
