Overview
Hero of the Fiefdom is a Fiefdom decoration that serves as the highest honourary title that can be bestowed on a citizen by the Serene Democratic People's Fiefdom. The General Secretary of the Communist Party was formerly the main conferring authority of the medal, though this has now passed to the Office of the Cihuacoatl. It is bestowed on those committing actions or deeds that involve conspicuous bravery while in the service of the state, or whose deeds have greatly worldwide Socialism or World Peace.
History and Selection Process
The Hero of the Fiefdom was created on 4th August 1960 under the auspices Decree 4428 of the the Presidium of the National People's Soviet. It has been awarded to some 67 people during the course of its history, including among them Noel Hoogaboom and a number of noted novelists.
To be considered for title, a person must perform a deed that greatly benefits the state and Fiefdom society at large. The title can be awarded to those serving in the military, public service or private enterprise. It can only be awarded once to an individual, and can be awarded posthumously. The criteria of Decree 4428 allow any group (association) of workers to submit a recommendation for an individual to be awarded the title. Governmental bodies, the National People's Soviet, cabinet officials and public unions, among others, are also eligible to submit nominations for the title. The candidate is evaluated, and if deemed worthy, the nomination is forwarded to the Office of the Cihuacoatl (formerly the Politburo of the Communist Party).
Under the amended Fiefdom Constitution of 2007, the Cihuacoatl has the power to bestow state awards. To announce an award, the Cihuacoatl passes a draft decree conferring the title to a person. Within two months, the title will be presented by the Cihuacoatl (or the Great Leader, Comrade Hoogaboom) in a formal setting, usually at the National People's Soviet Building in the capital city of Port Sunlight.
It should be noted that the Hero of the Fiefdom is the highest title that can be bestowed, the highest order is the Order of Marx.
