The History of The Freethinkers is comprised primarily of the colonisation of the Freethinker Mainland and the efforts of the Kingdom of Midlonia to hold onto and regain what was formally its greatest colony. As such, relations between the two nations and the events thats inevitably followed have shaped both the Freethinker society and its view of the world. Recent international expansion and new discoveries about the past continue to shape the nation as much as much as the wars and trade of previous centuries has done.

On the 7th April 1885 the final Midlonian armies surrended in Navarre, and on that day the formation of the Commonwealth of The Freethinkers was announced in turn.
The Present
The Commonwealth's entry into the Concordat was generally expected if somewhat illtimed given the recent breakup of the Concordat of Hermes. The Commonwealth's close relations with two of the primary states involved in the alliance, Midlonia and ZMI, ensured acceptance and rapid integration.
