The language Hoogs is a direct result of Dutch colonial history in Guffingford. Following the long history of the language it did not had as much influence by foreign languages as Afrikaans has, but some things have been changed. Some English words have been included and turned to more Dutch variants. The word 'oxymoron' is a classic example. In English the word's oxymoron. In hoogs it is 'oxiemorn'. Same meaning, same pronunction but different spelling. Hoogs is probably one of the most phonetic languages in the world; every word is simplified until it is exactly written as pronounced. Note this only holds for verbs, nouns and adjectives. The language Hoogs itself is more of a dialect than an actual language, but since it has such a long history, it is recognized as a true language instead of just a dialect - only by Guffingford it is recognized. The rest of the world just sees Hoogs as bastardized Dutch.

In alphabetic sequence, here's a comprehensive list of English words translated to Hoogs. The list is subdivived in several subjects. Not a full dictionary, only a few words to give you a basic impression of the language

A small Guffingfordian Text Translated - Ene Guffingfordish kleinverhaal vertaal

English
This is a small story of the nation Guffingford. Guffingford is a large nation with an unstable economy, wrecked by corruption and mismanagement. On the other hand, because of the economic stagnation the natural splendor of the central highlands coastal rainforests is unsurpassed. The population is a friendly bunch of hardworking citizens, always in for a joke and a good glass of Dutch or Belgian beer.
