Ifija
Ifija is a Kiravian governate located on a set of tropical islands.
History
The Ifija Islands were discovered by Seirm Novân during his naval expedition. His study of the natives revealed that they had a fully developed writing system, and a simple democratic government. Two years later, Novân returned to Ifija, to find a war-torn, deculturalized society. Agriculture had failed as a result of a multi-faction civil war, resulting in depression. At the strong bequest of a powerful faction, the Kiravians left the islands. However, the Empire returned soon after, with an invasion fleet. The technologically advanced and numerically superior Kiravians easily overtook the ill-equipped factions, and the island was declared a Mandate.
Kiravian settlement began when the government trnasitioned from a Mandate to a Governate. The settlers brought the Kiravian concepts of cultural preservation, science, and urabanity to the islands. Today, they make up 30% of the population.
