The Имперская Внешняя Сведения - Imperial External Intelligence - is more widely known as the CVS. It is the section of The Empire Of The Wolf's military with responsibility for external intelligence gathering. Whereas the ZVO takes care of counter-espionage and internal security within the Empire, the CVS exists to gather intelligence and carry out operations in foreign countries; as well as to collate that intelligence and produce reports for the Imperial military.

Departments within the CVS

There are three departments within the CVS, each based in a seperate Central Province. Each department has a different responsibility, ranging from espionage to assassinations and the all-important collation of data.

Department One

Based in Skgorria City, the members of D1 are responsible for the collation and analysis of intelligence data provided by their colleagues in D9. They have a reputation for being cautious and perhaps overly pessimistic, but this is all to the good for it keeps the Empire out of unnecessary engagements and ensures that when their intelligence is acted on it is acted on with adequate resources.

Department Nine

D9 are the spies; the unassuming men and women in foreign countries whose job entails extreme risk for little reward. The 'grey people' of D9 are unglamorous and incredibly vital. They are people of extreme political loyalty, having been vetted by their counterparts at the ZVO before entering their posts. Almost all have had at least two years' service in the military, but a significant minority are 'just' civilians.

Department Forty

The least well known of the CVS's departments, and the smallest, the operatives of D40 exist purely to kill. They are assassins and saboteurs par excellence, trained from birth to obey the God-Wolf and their commanders. So far, they have not been deployed in an operational capacity.
