James Andrew Thompson is a Confederal politician. He has been a member of three political parties in his life. He was originally elected to the Lanerian Senate as a Democratic Republican in 1954. However, in 1964 he left the Democratic Republicans to protest the parties increasing opposition to racial segregation. He joined the Federalist Party. Although, like all mainstream politicians of either party, he has since denounced racial segregation, he continues to defend his actions on grounds of States' (now Members') rights. In 2007, he became a Republican after the Federalists merged with a number of other Member right-wing parties to form the Republican Party.
