Biography
Josiah Willard Gibbs is the head of Weyr's diplomatic section, which is one of the largest in the Weyrean government bureaucracy.
Born in tripling, into a family of some repute, Gibbs originally studied alchemy in hopes of becoming a ranking Alchemist. He was accepted to The Tower College of Thaumaturgic Studies at the age of twenty-four, as the youngest aspirant to enter its doors in a hundred years. During his ordinatorship, he was part of Pyre Alchemist Johans Grunmann's research team, which laid the foundation for the revolutionary general Theorem of Magicka. A decade later Gibbs entered the Wye City University of International Studies, for reasons that remain unclear at this time.
Gibbs rose rapidly through the Diplomatic Service ranks, climbing the bureaucratic ladder three steps at a time, and was appointed Consul-General in 87BL. He continues to play a major role in Weyrean international relations, and has maintained his position through both wars and High Kings.
