K, also known as The K, is a band from Nevada Towers, a housing project across the river from Nevada City, Kedalfax. The band became popular in the mid 1990s, and is the number one best selling musical group in Kedalfax.

Name Myths

The band's name has been rumered to have been derived from many different things, most often:

  • Qué, a question word in Spanish, which is a common laguage in Nevada, especially among poorer residents.
  • oKay
  • Kedalfax

The last rumor, which was alluded to by some band members in a 1999 interview, is that the name came from when one band member was calling out to Jason "Jay" Thompson. He reportedly said "Aye, Jay!" to which another member said "K," it being the next letter in the alphabet.

Members

  • Jason "Jay" Thompson; lead guitar
  • Carlos Altec; Second guitar
  • Pablo Cortéz; bass guitar, various string instruments
  • Robert "R.J." Johnson; Keyboard, piano
  • Omar Mifflin; Drums

In 2002, the band released the information that second guitarist Carlos Altec is the second cousin, once removed (See Wikipedia:Image:Relatives_Chart.jpg) of current President of Kedalfax Patrick McRoin.

Type of Music

One of the reasons for K's success is their large variety of music. Generally they play rock with classic rock undertones. Some songs will have Spanish influence, some may have classical influence, and some are just unclassifiable.
