The LKE Today was the first newspaper to be founded in The Land of Kings and Emperors. It is also the longest running one, with the most issues and the highest readership. Edited by Lucius Magnus Rex it has always been a serious Broadsheet, focussing on the regional events, and occasionally into Foreign events, but only when they have an impact on the LKE. The motto of the LKE Today is 'Ornum Verum' i.e. Adorn the Truth, and it takes seriously its task of educating the public on current affairs. The LKE Today is owned by the Imperial Broadcasting Corporation, and indeed is the crown jewel of the company.

Political Stance

The LKE Today can be critical/praising of all parties and politicians

The Today claims to be impartial as well as the oldest newspaper. While it is true to say that it is politically impartial - it has been known to praise or criticise all parties - it is nonetheless pro establishment. The Today is strongly supportive of the Monarchy, Constitution and pomp and circumstance. It also tends to take a 'firm government' stance. The newspaper is also unquestionably patriotic and in favour of issues such as conscription, regional unity and celebration. Naturally when it comes to freedom of speech and the press it is very liberal.

The LKE Today Through the Ages

Since its founding the LKE Today has since made over 120 issues, which is more than three times its nearest rival (The Imperial Herald). The first 44 issues were listed in Roman Numerals and the first 64 issues were the traditional text based newspapers. The Today was the first newspaper in the LKE to go 'White paper' i.e to use a proper newspaper format, this was October 16 2006. At the time though this news format had some serious flaws, many found it hard to read. It was not until the next issue that this problem had been solved. As time went on the format continued to be honed and changed, eventually becoming more and more neat. The title text changed several times.
A special version celebrates 100 LKET issues
. On May 18th 2007 a 'Special Commemorative Issue' was made where the Newspaper reported on itself. This was to celebrate 100 issues and over one year reporting the news. On September 3rd 2007 the Today finally evolved into its modern format, with new background paper and a new title text. It also took its crest and motto out of the front page. This has remained the new format, though it is expected that the title headline will change, as it is being received as bland and undignified. During late August/September 2007 there were fears that the LKE Today was going to be closed down. This was due to much inactivity. The editor Lucius Magnus Rex had to make a humiliating 'Post for survival' thread promising a future issue soon. Since then the LKE Today has vowed never to et such an event happen again. As such activity has been very high with issues frequently every few days being well received by the public.

Circulation and Successes

The current format

On 14th October 2007 the LKE Today had a circulation (which in the LKE is measured by total topic views) of 12,980, this beat its nearest rival The LKE Star, which had 7,776 views. Its nearest Broadsheet rival was the Imperial Herald with 3,322. This actually places it number 15 on the LKE's most viewed forums. In addition the LKE Today is the oldest newspaper and the first one ever in the LKE, this also wins it the award as the first broadsheet.

On September 2nd a poll showed that 43% of people thought that the LKE Today was the best newspaper, beating near rival the LKE Star (26%).

Other

The LKE Today also ran/runs Today Magazine, which allows for more elaboration and unlike the Today does interviews. For a brief period during the summer of 2006, when Lucius Magnus Rex was on holiday, Westiana and Griffin edited a few issues.
