A landlocked country is a country that has no coastline or direct access to the seas and oceans of NationStates. Due to the chaotic nature of the multiverse, a nation is considered landlocked only its own reality if it does not have an ocean coastline. The multiverse also has sometimes resulted in alternate timelines in which two nations share similar names and history, so it is also possible that there may be claims and records to suggest that a landlocked nation was not landlocked at one time. However, a nation that currently has no access to the oceans in its own dimension is considered landlocked.

Traditionally it is considered something of a disadvantage for a nation to be landlocked, but there are also some advantages to not having to defend a coastline. Most landlocked nations are mountainous and still have rivers that eventually flow to the oceans through neighboring nations.

It is believed that most of the nations in NationStates are not landlocked. The following nations are landlocked:
