Lucianus has been a major city in Granate every since the time of the Great Lords. It infact was one of the leading Dukedoms of that time and was a vital ally in securing the Kleinhearts as Monarchs during the War of Many Lords. It's troops were among the most well-trained and armed soldiers in the Kleinheart Army. No one actually knows why the Duke of Lucianus actually swore fealty to the Kleinhearts. Some suggest trickery or sorcery, but those were quickly ruled out by some of Granate's leading Historians. The most generally accepted answer was that the Duke had alot to lose by going against the Kleinhearts and didn't want his city demolished. Although this debated by the surviving members of the Duke's Family.

Whatever the reason for the Duke's fealty to the Kleinhearts, it is well documented that the first Kleinheart Ruler, whose name is lost to history, named Lucianus the Capital of the Kingdom of Granate in return for it's soldiers hardwork and dedication.

Not once did Lucianus' troops retreat unless ordered to, not once did they act in a manner not fitting men, not once did they fail in their objectives. They were the best of the best, the elite. Many of the Greatest Lucianian Warriors were put in the Republican Guard to protect the new King of Granate. All was well, or so it seemed.

In 1505, a force of Peasants and Middle-Class men rebelled against King. They tried to force out the Monarchy and instil what they called a Democracy. The force of Democrats, as they were known, invaded Lucianus and the city was pretty much turned to rubble in the wake of heavy street fighting. Only the Southern end of the city survived, mostly due to the limited amount of Cannons the Democrats had. But even though they all but destroyed Lucianus, they were crushed. Much of there force was captured in a battle 13 miles west of Lucianus 2 months after it's destruction. Most were pardoned due to the good graces of the King, but a few were tried for Treason and hanged. The rebellion was over and Lucianus was being rebuilt, but still resentment boiled in the people's hearts.
