MI - Magnetic Impetus

Magnetic impetus is a form of electromagnetic propulsion. It only functions inside planetary EM influence, meaning that space vessels using MI propulsion typically swing around a planet several times to gain velocity before coasting to their destination. Magnetic impetus is similar, but not indentical, to the system employed in a mag-lev railway. MI craft do not suffer atmospheric drag, as the magnetic impetus propulsion technique creates a false vacuum several feet thick around the skin of the vehicle as an accidental byproduct of the technique. The critical groundwork for magnetic impetus was laid down by acclaimed physicist and mathematician, the ICEL's Imperial Mother and former High Queen of Ma-Nenya, Bao Ling II.

Magnetic impetus is unique to the Iluvauromeni Commonality of Everlasting Light, and its effective military use by the ICEL IDF is the prime reason that ICEL aircraft have yet to fail to secure air superiority during active warfare. See also: Celebrations of the Theory of All
