The Maanenland Provinces Act 2006 is the legislation passed that created the system of local government due to come into effect by 21st December 2007 . It was a replacement for the earlier [[Maanenland Provinces Act].

Background

When the previous New Provinces Act was drawn up in 1982 it was drawn up on a principal of a much more centralised government which increasingly became at odds with Alexander Jamesons policy of localisation of services despite manifesto commitments against constitutional meddling.

However this act restores the territories that were in place before the civil war and annexations of the larger districts.

So starting in March 2006 the government set about redrawing the boundaries but rather than at New Westminster level the review occured at local level with the old territories largely detirming the new districts.
