Vessels are named with the prefix MNS for Manhattanite Naval Ship

Manhattan Prime has traditionally fielded a very small navy and its naval technology and port facilities are quite backward. It has relied on more advanced allied nations for its military technology. Until quite recently the Navy consisted of little more than 10 Patrol Boats and 2 Frigates, all built in Leafanistan, and the navy was kept on a tight budget. The navy’s main focus then was anti-smuggling missions.

The navy was significantly scaled up in October 2005, with the purchase of 5 Holland Class Destroyers and 1 Mahan Class Destroyer Leader from Sarzonia.

A small navy was appropriate and inexpensive whilst Manhattan Prime was a smaller nation, but it is now thought that the naval situation might change soon.

Manhattan Air Force (MAF)

The Manhattan Air Force is the air wing naval wing of the Manhattanite Armed Forces. It makes up 10% of the Manhattan Prime Armed Forces and currently has 1,821,000 troops (which includes 819,450 support personnel).

Actual fighting strength - 1,001,550
Current Ranking Officer – General Michael Wilson

Known Airbases (All staffed by 7500 support staff):

MAF Colville
MAF Alanbrooke
MAF Fairfax
MAF Providence
MAF Thompson
MAF Morgan
MAF Sirius
MAF McGregor

Imperial Marine Corps (IMC)

Little is currently known about the newly founded Marine Corps.

Current Ranking Officer – General Ross Jackson

Combined Manhattan Intelligence (CMI)

CMI is Manhattan Prime military intelligence branch, and functions like the equivalent of the RL CIA. It includes a Secret Service division, for the protection of the President and the Cabinet.

CMI is sometimes informally known as MI-3, standing for Manhattan Intelligence 3 (The ‘3’ being the three branches of the armed forces it provided intelligence for; Army, Navy and Air Force).

One quirk of MI-3 is that its top 9 operatives are always given the codenames 001-009.

It is regarded as efficient, but critics have attacked its accountability, arguing that a lot of power in grouped into one large organisation, which answers directly to the President and Cabinet.
