Many if not all of the history books based around the war for independence will honour Sammy Leonidas as the inspiration behind Derralian independence because of her heroics at the Battle of Dragonheart fort. The honour is well earned however Sammy Leonidas herself has credited a large part of the gaining of Independence to her brothers who led the Derralians at the Battle of Scyl Cove.
Manius "The Swift" Leonidas is the eldest of the three siblings. He developed a calm when he was around water and at his Infernia it was no surprise that at the altar of Champion Flame he found the symbol of Ilawing. It is undoubtedly this that persuaded him to assume command of the Derralian Naval forces during the fight for independence after having a heated argument with his sister about claim to be the land forces commander and therefore commander in chief of the rebel forces. His instincts and leadership qualities showed when he learned that Valertiettean reinforcements were being moved up from the south of Derralia by sea and were going to ambush the Derralian forces heading for Hearth. Manius after dispatching a messenger asking for his brother Mark and the Dragonknights decided to take the Derralian naval forces and sprung an ambush of his own by driving the Valertenettean ships into the treacherous waters at Scyl cove and blockading the exit with his own ships, the rocks at Scyl cove and the Dragonknights from the air took care of the enemy for his actions prior to the battle Manius was given the name "The Swift" for his quick and vital decisions.
Manius played a rather unsung role in the battle of Hearth Plains he led the naval forces to the Hearth harbour and blockaded it thus pinning the Valertinettean forces on the land and more importantly out on the Hearth plains again it was Manius's subtle contribution that aid a large part to Derralian victory.
After the mystery vanishing of Manius and his brother and sister and their return to Derralia, Manius returned to his role as the Naval commander of the Derralian military at the rank of Admiral.
