McIntyre Islands
The McIntyre Islands are 3 islands in the Subantarctic Sea, and a Kiravian territory.
History
The McIntyre Islands were discovered by a group of Xiryan explorers seeking trade in the Southern Seas. They found the islands to be uninhabited and worthless for their purposes. However, reports of the findings reached Xirya, and the Empire took interest in the metamorphic islands. Xiryan and Kiravian settlers, cheifly of Kaldev and Seðev descent were sent to the islands in an attempt to create a permanent settlement. COntrary to Imperial predictions, the new settlement, Thyrsa, succeeded. Over the years, the islandsserved as a military base, research station, trading post, and civil settlement.
Government
As a External Territory of the Empire, the McIntyre islands have no political life, and are administered from Kartika, but are allowed to enforce, interpret, and in some cases, disregard laws on their own.
Vegetation
The McIntyres are a biogeographic oddity. there are conifer forests on the northern slopes of the islands' mountains, and tundra in the south and around the coasts. Large portions of the islands are covered in bare rock, ice, and gravel.
