Meridian Territory

The Meridian Territory is a subdivision of Xirya.

Histroy

Meridian's forests were originally inhabited by Chac-Waca peoples. They began living in simple villages and camps, as sedentary hunters and gatherers. They experienced a brief Golden Age, and some of the population moved to small cities. This collapsed when peasants began to rebel against the elitist police force sent fro the cities. Game became scarce, and the Chac-Waca were forced to send hunting perties to the untamed Northern Forests. About seven years later, Xiryan settlers arrived, and began to build forestry, dairy, and beekeeping villages in the forests. The Xiryans made peaceful first contact with the Chac-Waca, and the two lived peacefully for 5 years. After those years, animal migration patterns shifted, leaving the Chac-Waca destitue. They begged the Xiryan government for food. It was bargained that Xirya would grant the tribes 700 tons of cale and 50 cattle to their neighbours, in exchange for the Chac-Waca joinng the Empire. This continued for some time, until the Chac(not the Waca) began attacking Cosciv settlers, and resisting Imperial rule. The Governor of the Xirya Colony ordered 700 troops to secure the frontier province(for Meridian was the furthest extent of Xirya at the time). After several battles, nearly the entire Chac tribe was obliterated, and the remainder arrested and detained in Tinton City. But the Xiryans did not stop. They moved north from the olive-green honey-forests of the south, capturing every Chac settlement up to the Seyr River. The peaceful Waca, on the other hand, had helped the Xiryans fight, and were rewarded with land, and control of some Chac villages and camps.

Today, Meridian is different. Science, Industry, and the urbane have moved in. Meridian is now home to cities such as Chemicalia, Ẅurx, and Xadeforest. It is one of the most important regions of the Xiryan colonial economy. SOme has remained the same. The dairy and honey producing villages are still there, and the Waca still retain their native ways. Except fo the Cosciv-Waca.

Meridian is highly populated, and very important to Xirya as a whole. Other than being economiically productive, it serves as a cebterpoint for transit and defence.
