Moloch

History

Moloch is an ancient island continent in the middle of the Sea of Children. The island has been formed by many vulcanic eruptions. All but one of the vulcanos have died. The last one carries the same name as the continent: Moloch.

The name Moloch originated from many religious scrolls. Folklore and legends tell of several sightings of Moloch near the vulcano just before a new eruption. After studying and interpreting the sacred texts, the local inhabitants believed they could cut down the number of violent eruptions by sacrificing children to Moloch, "The Abomination of the Children of Ammon", by throwing them into the vulcano.

Unfortunatly, due to the large number of sacrificies being made by the people, the population count decreased every year. Eventually, they became extinct.

The continent was rediscovered about a 100 years ago. Explorers, searching every corner of the planet, could see the towering vulcano in the distance and set sail to, what seemed at that time, an island. Many more expeditions followed, charting the continent and uncovering the ruins and manuscripts of the lost native civilization.

Since then, dozens of groups claimed to be ancestors of the previous inhabitants.Many fought over small areas of land, many more perished within a week. Thirty years ago, an organized coalition of five faction made an end to the lawlessness by eliminating all other factions.

Today, all five faction who became countries live peacefully next to eachother, running their countries in very different ways.
