Monad

Monad is the second-largest province and island of Akimonad. It is the southernmost island in the Akimonad islands. Monad serves as the "front door" to Akimonad, containing most of Akimonad's ports and servicing well over 300,000 ships daily. Also, Monad is home to the large Akimonad Naval Shipbuilding facility along the Sea of Akimonad. Akimonad is connected to the other islands of Akimonad, Aki and Schvin, via two tunnel-bridge combinations located at Bordeaux and Strait City. The southern coastline of Monad, which faces open ocean, is a large tourist hub, containing some 150 hotels and resorts, as well as some 100 miles of coastline. Monad is also home to Akimonad's only active volcano, though it has not erupted since 1972. Spaceport One is located along Monad's southeastern coastline, and is a major commercial spaceport.
