Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVAN-69/CVN-69), nicknamed "Ike", is the second of 10 Nimitz-class supercarriers in the New Lincolnshire Navy, named after the thirty-fourth President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower. Originally, she was named Eisenhower, much like her sister, Nimitz. On May 25, 1970, the name was lengthened to Dwight D. Eisenhower. On commissioning, Ike replaced the aged First Wright War-era carrier NLSS Franklin D. Roosevelt in the fleet.
