Geography

Neeutegeen is placed in an attitude between 0-500 meters above sea level. The lowest point is in the Port of Gaanhöfe - 4 meters above sea level and the highest point is Hoogspits - 759 meters above sea level. In the northern part there are several meadows and moors. The middle part is the largest one and most settled one. There are long lowlands like Toeker Laagland (Toek Lowland) with some upland like Belg. The southern part includes Stammte Berge (Large Mountains), which is the highest mountain range in Neeutegeen with Hoogspits at the French and German boundary. Neeutegeen has five neighbor countries - Germany in the north and in the east, France in the south, Luxemburg in the southwest, Belgium in the west and Netherlands in the west and northwest. The northest point is situated nearby the Hoogvliet hook, the southest is situated at the southern foot of Hoogspits.


Climate

Neeutegeen is located in the genial climate zone such as the major part of Europe. It has a maritime climate, but in the eastern located places there is a mix between maritime and continental climate. It brings a moderate rainfall between 600-800 mm pro year. The average temperatures vary from 9.5°C in Wrees to 14.6°C in Narzoek. The extreme record temperatures were booked in the same places. The hottest day ever was July 15 1987 in Narzoek, where was measured out 37.9°C in shadow. In Wrees was measured out the lowest temperature in Neeutegeen history - 34.6°C BELOW zero. Narzoek is a very specific place because of its climate. There was booked the lowest rainfall sum - 312 mm. Kouvres is also a record place, because there fell the highest number of rainfall - 1348 mm.
