New Mesapotamia

History

New Mesapotamia was originally a colony (500 years ago, in the unexplored northern oceans). It was discovered by missionaries sent to spread Christianity to the northern, Godless, larger islands. When the missionaries arrived, they were impressed by the advancement in technology the island natives had achieved. This how it got the name of 'New Mesapotamia (yes I know it's spelled wrong, but NS wouldn't let me have the real one). The missionaries were peaceful, and the natives were peaceful. That is until 1731, when the King of the mainland ordered the expansion of his kingdom. He claimed it was "for the good of God and country". The New Mesapotamians didn't.

New Mesapotamia prepared for war, which the King showed would be inevitiable with his 'zero tolerance' laws. New Mesapotamia bought, and began to manufacture guns and cannons. They would be fighting a modern fighting force, and needed modern weapons. The New Mesapotamian Generals had heard stories of only a few hundred soldiers of the Royal Army defeating fighting forces of over 10,000 primative soldiers.

In 1734 when the Royal Navy and Army arrived, New Mesapotamia had enough fire power to stop the initial attack. They repeled the landing troops and sent the Royal Navy ships retreating. But the Royal forces were regrouping for another attack. A week after the first attack, the Royal Navy and Army began to attack again. This time they succeeded, and marched into the capitol. The inhabitants however, did not welcome the foreign invaders. After 6 monthes of occupation the Royal forces left the island
