* From Vault 10 Business Encyclopedia:

NLC, or No Liability Company is a further extension of concept of restricting legal liability of large entities, pioneered by Corporation and Limited Liability Company ownership forms. Typically NLC own enough air force that it is easier for them to bomb one into non-existence if he bothers them too much, rather than carry any legal liability. By Vault 10 laws, status confirmation requires power projection capabilities comparable to an average European nation, and at least one confirmed event of eliminating an opposing company in 24 hours after their lawsuit is filed. Laws do not apply to NLC, and lawsuits filed against them are redirected to recycling.

History

Aerospace Logistics Corporation

The NLC concept was originally created due to the practice of the Aerospace Logistics Corporation to quickly deliver airbombs to anyone suing them, making the lawsuit invalid. It was soon decided that, as the law had no practical effect on ALC anyway, the company may be granted an official status recognizing that, to prevent collateral damage from airstrikes. ALC became officially exempt from the law, and cases against them were ignored.

Geneforge NLC

Geneforge NLC has received the status just a year ago, being a LLC, or Limited Liability Company before. The NLC status was connected to a scandal, started after a shipment to New Reno labeled "bulk preteen slut" was discovered to originate at Geneforge LLC experimental laboratories. The last surviving representatives of all kinds of religions formed the Temple of Sacred Godly Creation, an organization aimed at banning all genetic research and driving public opinion against corporations involved in it. In 4 hours after the lawsuit was received by the court, Geneforge LLC agent planted RDX inside the supports of the Temple, and then shot the few people who managed to crawl outside. Soon the court was informed that neither the address of the TSGC was valid any longer, nor any of their staff were alive, and so the lawsuit was dismissed.

Symmetriad

Geneforge is not the fastest company to achieve NLC status, however. That record belongs to the case "Thomas Jefferson and co. Network Services vs. Symmetriad and Lightning Communications: Anti-trust laws application to trust-based monopolization of communications and data storage industries", where the lawsuit didn't even reach the court. Thomas Jefferson and co. Network Services filed tons of evidence of all communications monopolization, which has almost put his once prosperous company out of business. However, just half an hour after it was filed, as the post office was processing the mail, it turned out that Thomas Jefferson and co. Network Services had never existed, their employees have never been born or registered anywhere, and the apartments they were registered in have never been sold or rented. Furthermore, the IP address the company claimed to have was never allocated, the web domain "thomasjeffersonandconetworkservices.com" always belonged to a link farm, and their Uncyclopedia entry was written by an anonymous IP which was blocked indefinitely per WP:BALLS, and was never allocated anyway.
