The Orbital Defence Network of the Helghast Colony, codenamed Oblivion, is the single greatest asset available to the defenders of the Helghan Colonial Force and Kroenen Followers. It is a network made up of 50 platforms, 25 protecting each planet. With each platform having the firepower to annihilate an Emperor Class Planetary Assault Ship.

Construction

Each Platform of the Defence Network is fitted with 15 Gunnery Bays and a single Tactical Anti-Matter Missile Launcher. Each Platform requires a crew of roughly 40 men. Due to advanced Follower technology, only a single man is required to activate and use a Gunnery Bay to its full potential. A large Communication network also allows each platform to communicate with others, co-ordinating defence. Each Platform is built using the highest standard of Armour and construction materials available. They are also fitted with Primary and Secondary shielding.

Weapons

Each of the 15 Gunnery Bays is controlled by a single operator, and has the power to wipe out almost any Assault Ships which approach. Armed with 100 Hellfire Missiles and 45 Shadow Class Tactical Warheads, a Gunnery Bay is more than well equipped for destroying its enemies.

Oblivion Anti-Matter Missile Launcher

The ultimate weapon of mass destruction. The Oblivion (for which the Network got its name) is a massive construct, fitted to each of the Orbital Platforms. Each Launcher is armed with a single Anti-Matter warhead, capable of penetrating shields of all strengths and destroying a ship. The Missile is armed with a 10 gram weight of Anti-Matter (may not sound that much of a threat, but get this, real-life quote from a science book I found in the library: One gram of Anti-matter has the power of a 20 kiloton nuclear warhead, the size and power of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Beat that for a threat), which, when the warhead makes contact with the Matter a shield is composed of (as all things are made of matter) 'annihilates'. The effect is a massive explosion of light, in the form of a rapidly expanding orb. Anything caught inside this orb is utterly destroyed, and due to its extreme danger, the Launcher requires an access code which is changed every day and is known only by the Lord-Marshall.
