Overview

An ornithopter is an aircraft that flies by wing-flapping. Many examples exist in nature such as birds, bats and insects. The ornithopter is a Postmodern Tech vehicle. The chief advantages are a high load capacity compared to size and higher speeds than a helicopter. Armaments can include belly mounted missile systems and nose mounted cannon. Ornithopters can full fill a variety of battlefield roles from fast scouts and attack ornithopters to the larger ornithopters that can be used as troop transport or mid-air refuelling platforms.
