Patricanian Defense Forces
The Patricanian Defense Forces is the name of the military of the Democratic Republic of Patricania.
History of the Patricanian Defense Forces
The Patricanian Defense Forces has been in existence for over three hundred years. The first colonists of Patricania first formed it as the colonial army in 1654. It was soon incorporated into the British Army and served to defend Patricania from other nearby foreign colonies and natives. From 1968 to 2005, the fascist coup employed the military to put down political opposition and to keep an iron grip on the nation. However, republicans eventually came into control of the Armed Forces and used it to help the Revolution.
The role of the Patricanian military now is mainly patrolling the border of Patricania and preventing illegal immigration. Two years of compulsory millitary service is required of every citizen able to understand the oath.
Army of Patricania
The Army of the Democratic Republic of Patricania is the branch of the Patricanian Defense Forces that deals exclusively with ground and air operations. The Patricanian Army Air Force (PAAF) is under command of the Army of Patricania.
The Navy of Patricania is the second branch of the Patricanian Defense Forces and operates primarily in the oceans near Patricania and around the world. The Navy also utilizes its own aircraft, although the PAAF is in possession of the largest amount of planes in Patricania. The Navy of Patricania has its own ground forces, the Patricanian Marine Corps, which are usually the first troops in a combat area.
