Parties

After lengthy talks regarding a Coalition prior to the By Election many members were commited to a Centre-Left Coalition.

  • Socialist Internationalist Party
  • Ecological Foundation Party
  • Gaelic Páirtí
  • Liberal Party
  • Socialist Labour Party
  • Muslim Voice
  • Pensioner Party
  • Youth Party
  • Catholic Conservatives
  • Rainbow Peace Team

Policies

Upon creation of the People's Coalition the two founding parties, SIP and EFP, made a list of policies which ar the 'Foundation of the Party'.

  • To be caring towards the Enviroment,
  • To be supportive of the UN,
  • To be Peaceful,
  • To be Liberal in outlook,
  • To have be economically Left Wing in outlook,
  • To not be extreme,
  • To create a fairer, better, stronger Niploma for all.

Election

Due to sheer weight of numbers the People's Coalition can expect an easy win against Libertarian rivals, the Libertarian Reform Party. Analysts predict up to 50% of the vote share to be won by the party, and up to 35% going to the LRP.

Leadership

An election is currently being fought within the Coaliton for political leadership of the Coalition.

  1. Adráin Robert - Leader of SIP and very experianced
  2. Éibhear Elwes - Leader of EFP and young and respected
  3. Odhrán Torin - SIP Deputy. Youthful and liked.
  4. Francis Gardner - Liberal Party Leader. Unknown but vibrant.

Leadership Results

The election battle was closely fought although ended with Torin, the SIP Deputy, winning the job based on his enthusiasm and public support. Although Elwes won the race for the Presidential position he stepped down and handed the job over to PM Robert as he was, 'to be more suited to the job.' Gardener was ejected in the first round.

Council

The People's Coalition has a newly appointed Council of 24 members. The twenty-two consist of President and Leader of each individual party. The remaing two consist of the Leader and President of the Coalition.

Strength and Criticism

It is obvious to the educated majority of Niploma that the People's Coalition is a Coalition clearly for the benefit of the Socialist Internationalist Party. Indeed, several Deputies from the party claimed it was a 'farce' on the behalf of Adrain Robert to get back at McKibben.

Those who do not support the People's Coalition are very scared of it. They realise the huge electoral power it will hold due to the varied supportbase it will get. It effectively supports everyone from the Centre of politics to the left. On the left are parties such as Socialist Labour, a Communistic party that split from the OCWP, of course there are the moderate Socialists (and Reformists) of SIP aswell. Towards the centre there is the growing Liberal Party, effectively a pro-UN 'upper class' party to counter the Libertarian Reform Party (LRP). The second largest party in the Coalition is the Ecological Foundation Party, which uphold leftist values (it is noted for its extreme liberal values) together with ecological principles. There are also the other parties, the already strong Gaelic Páirtí along with several religious groups. Interestingly there is a Conservative party in the Coalition that has gathered interest from the LRP, and has been a subject of criticism. This large group will attract votes.

Regardless of this huge Coalition and its varying parties the Coalition could be very counter-productive. The minor fringe parties in the Coalition may recieve up to 5% of the vote (38 seats) but if some get such small percentages that they do not even get a seat or simply split the vote the Coalition will appear weaker.

It is also odd to note why the President is Adárin Robert, an almost beaten figure in politics, instead of the young Elwes.

McKibben, leader of the LRP, declared after leadership results for the Coalition that it was merely a 'playtoy of SIP'. Indeed, both the Leader and President of the party are from the SIP.

Avoiding criticism Odhrán Torin replied saying that if the Coalition wins Cabinet Deputy positions will be shared proportionally to the parties in the group. 'And of course', Torin exclaimed, 'The Greens are a major part of our Coalition.'
