Ragnarok SLBM

The Ragnarok Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) is the primary method of strategic nuclear deterrent available to the Shildonian Navy. The Ragnarok is carried aboard the Titan_Class_Missile_Submarine. The missile was developed in response to the growing proliferation of ballistic missile defence systems, which degraded the performance of the existing ballistic missile in service in the Shildonian Navy - the Trident - to the point where it's value as a deterrent was set to become negligible. Each Ragnarok is capable of carrying eight independantly targettable, manouverable reentry vehicles (MARVs), each with a yeild of up to 485 kilotons. The MARVs use scramjet engines to allow the warhead to change course and velocity during and after the reentry phase of the flight. However, this increased survivability comes at the cost of decreased accuracy. However, the size of the warhead means that in almost all circumstances the target would still be destroyed.
