Rule of the Culenkari

Since 34 AC, the people of Ratlea have been headed by Prince Culenkari. The name Culenkari has become nearly a title in itself, having been adopted by all seven of the rulers of Ratlea. All seven of the Culenkari are related by blood, in some way or another.

Line of Sucession

The primary line of succession runs through the family of the Culenkari, with an attempt to advance at least one generation per succession. As a result, the line goes as follows, with the line continuing straight on, should there not be anyone to fill the place above it:

  • Oldest Living Child of the Culenkari (note that any "children" must be directly born children of the Culenkari, not adopted)
  • Next-Oldest Child of the Culenkari, continuing in order of age through the entire line.
  • Oldest Living Child of the Culenkari's oldest child, if he/she had any children before their death.
  • Oldest Living Child of the Culenkari's next-oldest child, if applicable (continue until all grandchildren of the Culenkari are considered, if there are any)
  • Youngest Living Sibling of the Culenkari
  • Oldest Living Niece/Nephew of the Culenkari

The Royal Family

The Culenkari's family, other than his immediate family, is fairly spread out along the island. In fact, some have even won seats in the Acharon. To denote their blood-line connection with the ruling leader, each member of the family takes the last name of "Princeps". In the cases where a female marries, tradition has been for her new family to take the name Princeps-<husband's family name> as their surname.
