Sabrateur Premier League

The Sabrateur Premier League is the highest football league in Sabrateur, featuring the top 24 teams in the country. Fixtures are based on a 9-month season, and each team plays each other team twice; one game at their home ground and the other at their opponent's stadium. This means that each team will play 46 league games per season.

Mechanics

Teams are arranged into a points table to chart progress throughout the season. They are awarded 3 points if they win a match, 1 point if the outcome is tied, and nothing if they lose. Should teams be tied for a position in the table, then goals conceded are subtracted from goals scored to obtain a 'goal difference' figure, and the team with the superior figure claims the higher position.

The team which, at the end of the season, rests at the top of the league table is awarded the Premier League trophy, and crowned Champions of that season. Team second placed team recieves a smaller token, and the title of Runners Up.

The four teams finishing the lowest in the table are relegated from the Premier League and placed into the Sabratese Secondary League. The four teams finishing at the top of that league are promoted into the Premier League.
