Samah Island (Arabic: سماحة الجزيرة), officially the Emirate of Samah Island, is a country in West Saint Holden, that includes the Island of Salmar, an island south of Samah Island. Covering an area of about 783,562 km², the Emirate is and island located in the West Dominica Sea.

History

During the late 1700's St Samuel and Southern Holdinia had begun a period of conquest over the Arab lands in the west. In 1781 a civil war in Samah Island between various tribal leaders began and St Samuel used this as an opportunity to get a foot hold on the island. The King of St Samuel allied himself with Sheikh Saleh al Zamas and by 1793 the St Samuel/al Zamas alliance was victorious in securing power of the island.

After the war St Samuel made Saleh al Zamas the Emir of the Emirate of Samah Island, which was to be a protectorate of St Samuel. With the Southern Holdinia Empire rising in power in the Arab lands, St Samuel sent thousands of troops to Samah Island where they were garrissoned, mainly at Port Bloomsbury.

From 1799 to 1804 the Southern Holdinia Empire supported by Hassia and Makaoui invaded the Emirates of Abu Omar and Abu Hana, in an attempt to gain control of the vital Baba Canal. The Emirates of Abu Omar and Abu Hana quickly recruited the help of St Samuel, becoming protectorates of St Samuel. Thousands of Samahian's fought in the Baba Canal War and by November 1804 St Samuel and it's allies were victorious over Southern Holdinia.

The Baba Canal War was a small conflict compared to the Great War of Pellina which began in 1812 and saw nearly the whole of the Pellinese Island become a battle ground, where the Arab states allied themselves with either St Samuel or Southern Holdinia. The Great War of Pellina ended in 1827 with victory for St Samuel and it's allies and ending Southern Holdinia's time in the Arab lands.

Samah Island remained a protectorate of St Samuel for nearly 100 years until in 1893 the country was granted independence and full power handed over to the Emir.

In 1918 Emir Hassanein al Zamas died and his son, Yasser al Zamas announced that Samah Island would become a semi-presidential republic, where the al Zamas family would act as President, but under the title of Emir, but hand vast amounts of power over to the Prime Minister. Later that year elections were held and Mohammed Abbarak became the countries first ever Prime Minister.
