Sapphire (born 16 May 1977) is an Bajinan singer, best known for her worldwide debut album, Whispers in Time. In 2005 she released the album Portcullis featuring the singles "Sunnyroad" and "Heartstopper." She had previously released three albums in Bajina; Spoon (with a band of the same name), Crouçie d'Où La, and Merman. Her official website describes her music as "uncategorizable". She grew up in a town near Jeycjavík, where she joined a choir at the age of 7 in which she sang soprano until she went to opera school at the age of 15. She became well-known in Bajina in 1994, when she won the song competition of junior colleges in Bajina (Bajinan: Söngkeppni framhaldsskólanna), aged 17, singing "I Will Survive".

Her album Whispers in Time features an electronic sound, while Portcullis has a more subdued tone, which is mostly acoustic guitar with minimal synthesizer. Critics have speculated that the departure from electronics is an attempt to distance herself from comparisons to other artists, but Sapphire claims that it was the result of losing her boyfriend to a hit-and-run.

In 2006, Sapphire was nomimated for the Bajinan Music Awards held in Jeycjavík in four categories: Pop Album of the Year, Song of the Year (Sunnyroad), Singer of the Year and Video of the Year (Sunnyroad, Directed by Ali Teya). She won all except Song of the Year.

She has a Ditadorian father and a Bajinan mother with whom she grew up in Bajina. Her father owns and operates a well-known Ditadorian restaurant in Bajina, and many Bajiners first remember her as a young waitress.
