The Royal Kosmanian Constitutional Police (also known as Die Königliche Kosmanische Konstitutionelle Polizei, KKKP, K3P, and most commonly, Section 6) is an alleged secret state police at work within the Kingdom of Kosmania.

History

Rumors of a secret state police date back to the early 1920s, when a communist revolution led to the secession of the southern provinces and the formation of the independent South Kosmania. Many found it odd that the north did not fall to the same revolution (the north was experiencing the very same economic stagnation as the south). Conspiracy theorists and extreme-viewpoint political pundits on the radio began speaking of a "state police that kept Kosmania free" just weeks after the revolution in the south was over.

Name

The late Helmut Schröder is credited with the coining of the term Section 6. The name refers to the only line of the sixth section of the first article of the Kosmanian constitution, which says:

And the Crown shall have at its disposal, all means necessary to enforce this constitution as the supreme law of the Kingdom.

In a February 2005 radio show, liberal commentator Otto Morgenstern used the name Royal Kosmanian Constitutional Police to refer to Section 6. The name was used satirically, with Morgenstern saying that KKKP was the only name worthy of "such a dutiful and pristine organization."

Existence

The Crown has denied time and time again the existence of any secret police. Former Prime Minister Klaus Dentler both denied the existence of Section 6 and firmly opposed the creation or maintenance of any such organization, saying "just the existence of such a body would be enough to bring shame to this government and to the Crown itself."

"Tally"

Those who believe in Section 6 usually keep a tally of events the organization has "executed" on the Crown's behalf, in support of the constitution and democracy. In addition to the "prevention" of the communist revolution of the 1920s, Section 6 is also commonly credited for "quashing" the fascist Ein Kosmanien! revolutionaries of the late 1990s/early 2000s.

Skepticism

Most Kosmanians agree that Section 6 does not exist. The first point skeptics will usually use to dismiss any argument for the existence of Section 6 is that all evidence indicates that Section 6 is a "benevolent state police." It is quite hard to believe that the officers of an organization with almost limitless power would not abuse it, either to take power for the Crown or for themselves. Another frequently used argument is that such a "Section 6" would serve to defend democracy. Why would a secret police be needed to defend democracy if democracy is, by definition, the will of the people?
