Serapindal
History
It all began in November, 1956. Six states were constantly quarreling with each other, until a foreign much larger country, attacked. First, they were being massacred, until they formed a Coalition known as the Democratic States of Serapindal, or DSS. The DSS spent a hefty amount of it's treasury on the new assault rifle." With this new weapon, the makeshift rebels were able to beat off the occupiers, and make them withdraw. For nearly 48 and a half years, the DSS was a haven of civil rights, and political freedoms, but with a stagnant socialist economy. Also, it had mediocre living conditions compared to other first world countries, and life was especially hard for blue-collar workers. In March, 2005, Political Activist, Avlis Axrath, rallied up up a large portion of the population, with his Authoritian, Pragmatic, and Populist views. In the March Primary, several parties ran. The Conservatives, Liberals, Populists, and Libertarians. In a stunning victory, the populist party scored 34% of the vote. The Liberals followed with 33%. The Libertarians with 31%, and the Conservatives with 1%. The new "president" declared himself Premier. He then made massive reforms with policy, by suspending elections indefinitely, outlawing cannabis, abortion, prostitution, affirmitive action, all drugs, legacies, the FFC, and animal euthanasia, along with lots of other stuff. He quickly in a matter months, transformed the DSS, into the Imperium of Serapindal. He also drastically revolutionized the economy, education, environmental control, millitary, and law enforcement. He also improved living conditions, and generally wins the respect of the worker class. Taxes went sky-high however, but no one cares. The country does have some state-controlled Media, and propaganda. The ministers (advisers), however, are democratically elected. Also, it still has racial, and gender equality, though there are radical feminsits who oppose it.

The Imperium, or Imperial Youth: A organization similiar to the Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts, rolled into one, run by the IOS.
The Serapindal Media Corporation, or SMC: A very large division, running several web-sites, radio channels, T.V. channels, newspapers, and has a hand in almost every form of Media.
All Schools, and many universities.
Government Type: Quasi-Democratic Father Know's Best State, with a heavy emphasis on economy. (people happily vote for the ministers, despite they are only advisers.)

Police: The Police is the Millitary, and the Millitary is the Police. So the Defense and Law and Order budget is the same, that's why they're equal, but in fact, the Millitary get;s most of it, and the police is a small portion, about 1/10-1/9 of the Millitary Budget.

Geography: The IOS, is on an island, measuring about ten million square kilometers, and is in the main island of a small group of islands. The Main Island is more then eighteen million square miles, with four other nations of about 2 million square kilometers on it. They are constantly in random quarrels, and what not. It was originally 9, two square kilometer states, but remember when five of them banded together to form the IOS?
